On my recent trip to New York I knew that the majority of my savings would be spent on makeup, so I saved up for a whole year to make sure I could get what I wanted. I did have a list of what I wanted to buy however it went out the window when I was in a Sephora store for the first time in my life.
I'll start off with the sets that I picked up:
Beautyblender and Too Faced Holiday Kit | $40
This was something that I intended to get due to needing a new beautyblender anyway and I've wanted to try the blotterazzi for quite some time now. Also the beautyblender is baby pink and who wouldn't want that. I also haven't tried Too Faced Candlelight Glow and I've heard good things about it so I'm excited to give these products a try.
Sephora Favourites Give me Some lip | $28
I was very surprised to see this in store as they have brought a new bold lip version out for the holiday season but I was happy because this is the set that I really wanted. I was going to pick up Smashbox Always on Liquid Lipstick in Stepping out anyway so I thought it was a bargain to get it in this set. Unfortunately this set is no longer available online but you an find their new set here.
Marc Jacobs Birthday Gift
While in New York I was able to pick up my birthday gift, I chose the Marc Jacobs set. I've tried out the lipstick and it is a beautiful colour and formula. I can't wait to try out the eyeliner. If you are registered in Sephora you are entitled to a birthday gift.
AmorePacific 500 point Gift
Whilst in New York I reached 500 points on my Sephora card, I chose to spend the points there as I didn't know the next time I would be ordering from Sephora. I also took this opportunity to choose something that I wouldn't usually go for. It's a Age-defying skincare collection with a defence cream, serum, cleansing foam and enzyme peel. I'm happy I chose this as its leaving my skin looking brighter and smoother.
Estee Edit Pore Vanishing Stick | $28
I don't have an Estee Edit retailer near me and the only way I can get the products is to order online, I thought I would wait to get anything until I was in store. After having a look through all the products in the range, I decided to pick up the pore vanishing stick as I suffer with large visible pores on my nose. I tried this out whilst away and it's amazing, it does exactly what you would expect.
Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara | $23
I've wanted a full size of this mascara since I had it in a Glossybox, if you missed my review on it you can find it here. I fell in love with my travel size and thought I'd pick it up while I was already spending a lot of money on makeup.
Laura Mercier Setting Powder | $38
This product has been on my wishlist since I first saw Jaclyn Hill using it. It's one of those products that I thought I didn't need however much I wanted it and I thought it would be the same as all my other setting powders. However after finally taking the plunge I realised that I wasn't just paying for the brand name I was paying for the amazing luxury, finely milled powder that doesn't compare to anything I already have. I only wish I'd sucked it up and purchased this sooner.
Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Foundation | $55
This is another product that I can't purchase in a store near me and I couldn't purchase it until I had been colour matched. I waited months until my trip to New York to finally be able to buy it. I didn't want to guess my shade as it's a lot of money to spend on a foundation and there are so many shades to choose from. However I do believe the Marc Jacobs beauty range is going to be available in John Lewis soon. I haven't had chance to fully try this foundation out yet however I've tried it out quickly and all I can say it that it is extremely full coverage.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter | $38
This is another Jaclyn Hill inspired purchase, I've wanted this in full sized since I had a sample of it from the Becca Champagne Collection Face Palette. It created a subtle glow through foundation that I absolutely love.
Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer | $26
Since the repackaging of this product I have wanted to try it out and I know this is now available in Debenhams but I don't think there will be a stand in my store(Cardiff). I matched myself in this concealer and I think I did a pretty good job, I've only used this to cover spots and haven't tried it under the eyes yet.
BVLGARI Omnia Paraiba | $82
Whist in the airport I was browsing duty free and I saw this beautiful coloured and shaped perfume bottle. I had never heard of the brand or smelt any of their fragrances before, so I picked this up and spayed it on my arm. I fell in love with the scent, it's hard to explain as its a mixture of floral and musky. It's not like any of my other perfumes an that's why I love it so much. If you get the chance to try it definitely do, if you like a different type of fragrance you won't be disappointed.
Beautyblender Nude | $20
I picked this up as I thought I hadn't packed a beauty sponge but when I got back to the hotel I found it loose in my toiletry bag. I went for the nude as I haven't ever changed from the conventional hot pink. I will keep this as a back up now until my current one gets a bit grubby.
GlamGlow Brightening Treatment | $22
I've never tried any GlamGlow products so I've been itching to get my hands on something to try out. They had a few of these masks in travel size so I picked up the brightening treatment to compare it to a few similar products that I've got. When I picked this up I thought it was a mask and didn't realise you have to cleanse it into your skin before washing it off as opposed to just slapping a mask on. I have now realised that GlamGlow is available in Boots for quite reasonable prices so I will pick up a few more products to try.
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer | $12
This trip was my first time picking up any Nars products and there are only three products that I have ever fancied from Nars this being one of them. As I hear such mixed reviews on this product and I have a lot of concealers, I chose to just pick up the travel size. I haven't tired it out yet but I'm not to sure on the shade I picked up.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | $12
This is my favourite concealer at the moment and I couldn't resist getting a travel size to keep in my bag.
Nars Blush/Bronzer duo | $24
Obviously I got the Orgasm/Laguna duo just to finally see what the hype is about these two shades. Again this is just a mini sized as I have a lot of blushers and bronzers and I didn't want to commit to a full sized without knowing if I liked them. I've tried these out a few time now and I'm very happy with the shades and formulas, I might even purchase the full size of Orgasm.
Beautyblender Solid Cleanser | $16
I've always washed my beauty sponges and brushes with normal soap and I've found it works well however I've been wanting to try an actual brush cleaner to see if it makes a difference. I saw this in sephora and thought I'd pick it up to wash my brushes while I was out there.
Sephora Eye Mask | $4
I always pick these up whenever I put a Sephora order in as they are my favourite eye masks. They leave my under eyes looking brighter and hydrated for around 48 hours after using them. I don't like to run out of these as I use them regularly so this was just a top up purchase.
Sephora Sleeping Mask | $4
As I love most of the Sephora masks I picked up this to try. I use masks a lot but I've never tried a sleeping mask so I'm quite excited to see how it works and try it out.
Here are the products that I picked up in Duane Reade:
Wet n Wild Large Eyeshadow Brush and Small Concealer Brush
I believe these were $0.99 each, so they were very reasonably priced for eyeshadow brushes. I've heard good things about these brushes so I want to put these to the test myself.
Wet n Wild Contouring Palette | $4.99
I've seen Amy Macedo rave about this product so I wanted to try it out as Wet n Wild isn't available in the UK. I like the yellow powder for under the eyes but I'm not sure on the contouring shade.
Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer | $14.95
This is another brand unavailable in the UK but is so highly raved about in the US. I picked this up on my first day shopping and I thought I was going to love it. The scent is amazing however the shade is a bit too light when I have my foundation on. I'll use this when I haven't got any foundation on just to warm up the cheeks.
L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow | $12.99
I've never been able to find my correct shade in the original infallible foundation so I thought I would try my luck in this one. Again people in the US rave about this so I hope that its good.
Maybelline Color Jolt | $9.99
These are available in the UK however I hadn't had chance to go into store and try them out. So I picked this up to compare to the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks as I've heard they are similar.
I hope you've enjoyed my New York haul, I won't be splurging on anymore anytime soon. Please let me know if you want individual reviews and first impressions on any of these products. I would love to go into more detail on a lot of these products, just let me know what ones are more desirable to you.
Shannon xx
