August GlossyBox Review

If you saw my recent post you would know that I had a three month subscription to GlossyBox for my birthday. I've always loved the idea of a subscription box but I've never been able to commit to one as there are so many out at the moment. GlossyBox is available monthly for £10 plus P&P or you can pay in advance for 3, 6 or 12 months, which lowers the box price to £9.50, £9 or £8.50 depending on the plan. So in the August box there were 5 products and a specially designed box by Rae Feather.

The first product was a Rae Feather Mini Monogram Pochette, its the initialled small makeup bag. The bag is very cute, the colour scheme is exactly what I would pick myself. However its quite small so it wouldn't hold very much, but I'll probably use it when travelling to keep clips and bobbles in so they don't get lost in my bag. The bag is retailed for £20 however its a GlossyBox exclusive so this particular one is only available with this months GlossyBox but their website has a lot of cute and similar products.

Next I got the MUA Starry Night Palette, this is my first time trying an MUA product and I'm very surprised by the quality. The palette retails for £4, so I expected the shadows to be quite basic and lack pigment. This palette is the opposite to what I expected, it has amazing pigment and the colours show up even better than in the pan. They are colours that I don't have much of in my collection as blue has never been a colour I've chosen for myself, however this palette has given me the opportunity to try colours I wouldn't usually purchase for myself. I will definitely be trying more products from this brand.

Next is the Spa To You Deep Pore Facial Cleaning Brush, this is supposed to be used to be used with wet with a normal cleanser. I tried this with my cleaner but I didn't feel like it was doing anything other than absorbing the cleanser. I then went on to try this with my face scrub and I got a better performance from the brush. I used it to work the face scrub deep into my pores and even though it was rough against my sensitive skin, when I washed my face I could tell it had made a difference to face wash alone.

Next is the Mudmasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask sample, this claims to detoxify skin, refine and tighten pores, hydrate, brighten and smooth skin. I personally love face masks and I have a lot in my collection but none that claim to do this much. I tried this generously sized sample out on my t-zone, as this is where I mostly apply masks and most of its claims held up. I found my pores were less visible which is what I usually look for in a face mask as I suffer with large pores.  My skin also looked visibly brighter and my dry skin felt hydrated for the day. However I don't think I'll be rushing to purchase the full sized product as it £59.

Lastly is definitely my least favourite product for the GlossyBox this month, its the Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion. The only reason that I can't like this product is because of the scent, for me its too overwhelming with lemongrass and ginger. I did try it out and the formula is nice, its a nice thick cream and when its massaged in the scent dulls down a bit to a subtle lemon scent. It's just personal preference on scent, I've looked on their website and they have a variation of other scents which I'm sure I would like.

I think my first GlossyBox was a hit, I'm very happy with most of the products and It's definitely given me a chance to try things that I wouldn't buy myself like the eyeshadow palette and the face brush. I'll continue to review my next two boxes and then I'll decide if I'll continue my subscription or not. I hope you've enjoyed reading this review, it was fun for me to write about something completely new to me.
